A letter to inform you of the homework schedule for the year ahead.

This year the majority of homework will be done in the A4 homework folders. In year 5 there will be two pieces of work as well as spellings and times tables. Homework will be given out weekly, on a Friday.

Homework folder- to be handed in the following Wednesday.

Spellings- to be tested on the following Thursday.

Times tables- to be tested on the following Thursday.

When written homework is completed could I please ask that you sign it as an acknowledgement you have seen it. Most of the written work should not take more than 40 minutes and should consolidate work being done in class. Please encourage your child to have a go, but if they have given it their full attention for this time and it is not finished just make a note of this before you sign it so I am aware they have made their best effort. I am always available to discuss any homework problems with the children, after they have read it through.

Times tables and spellings should be practised for 5 minutes each night.

Reading books and reading records need to be in school each day for monitoring. If appropriate they may have a book from home or from the main library as their reading book.

P.E sessions are on a Tuesday and swimming on Wednesday.

As I know letters often go astray or get lost in the bottom of a school bag, could I please ask that you sign this letter to acknowledge you have read it.

Many thanks for your continued support and cooperation.
