Year 6 Homework and Information

Our class teacher is Mr Withams

with Mrs Parnham and Mrs Najafi.

Year Six Homework

This year the majority of homework will be done in the A4 homework book. Worksheets will need to be stuck into the books when appropriate.

The homework schedule is stuck in the front of the homework book, and can also be found below.

In Year Six homework will be given weekly. The following timetable is a guide to help you support your child with their weekly homework which will be given out on the following days:

Friday                            Maths – To be handed in on the following Tuesday.

English – To be handed in on the following Tuesday.

When written homework is completed could I please ask you to sign it as an acknowledgement you have seen it.

Mental Maths (times tables / number bonds) should be practised for 5 minutes each, every night.

Reading should take place for about 15 minutes every night. The children have a responsibility to change their own reading books, when a book has been finished. If appropriate, they may have a book from home or from the main library as their reading book.

In addition, your child may be required to finish work at home that should have been completed in class.

Most of the written homework should not take more than 25 to 30 minutes and should consolidate work being done in class. Please encourage your child to have a go, but if they have given it their full attention for this time and it is not finished just make a note of this before you sign it so I am aware they have made their best effort. I am always available to discuss any homework problems with the children, after they have read it through.

Occasionally some homework may take a little longer, especially if it involves research, however the deadline for handing the homework in will reflect this.
